Lot Essay

This horse, with its leopardskin and crimson shabraque, is almost certainly of the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars, circa 1840-60. Similar shabraques were sold from the Royal House of Hanover, Schloss Marienburg, Sotheby's house sale, 5-15 October 2005, ninth day's sale, lots 3748-3760.
