A CARVED LONGQUAN CELADON TEMPLE VASE
MING DYNASTY, 14TH/15TH CENTURY
The vase is carved on the globular body with a floral scroll above a border of lotus petals encircling the tapering lower body that is interrupted by a raised collar. The tall flared cylindrical neck is carved with a band of upright plantain leaves above a classic scroll, below raised ribs on the trumpet mouth. The glaze of characteristic sea-green tone is pooling at recessed areas.
