Lot Essay

A similar example but with a different gilt mount is in the Palace Museum, Beijing Collection and illustrated in Metal-bodied Enamel Ware, The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 2002, pl. 124. Another very similar inkcake stand was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 28 November 2012, lot 2216. See also a cloisonne enamel brush rest, which probably forms a set with the current stand on the scholar's table, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30 May 2006, lot 1223.
