A YELLOW JADE CARVING OF A DOG
SONG-MING DYNASTY (960-1644)
The stone is finely carved in the form of a recumbent dog on its front paws, its head turned back to face the tail flicked to one side, its eyes rendered in two indented circles and its spine detailed with ridges. The material is of a greenish-yellow tone with mottling and concentrated areas of russet.
