A WHITE AND RUSSET JADE CARVING OF MOHOULUO HOLDING A LOTUS
SONG DYNASTY (960-1279) OR LATER
The stone is carved as a boy in a reclining position with one knee bent upward, leaning restfully on one elbow and holding a lotus stem in the hand. The white stone is suffused with milky mottling and russet inclusions, some deepening to a dark brown.
