4° (190 x 147mm). Engraved title and 52 interleaved engraved plates by Johann Theodor de Bry of which 51 numbered emblems. (Lacking engraved portrait with laudatory poem on the recto, small scattered stains and occasional soiling.) 18th-century vellum blind-stamped in gilt on front cover within dark decorated border, manuscript title on spine (lacking ties, soiled.) Provenance: erased ownership inscription on margin of title and text occasionally underlined -- F.A. Maige (bookplate) -- [H. Yates Thompson] -- S.A. Thompson Yates (bookplate).
