A FINE GERMAN SWEPT-HILT MILITARY RAPIER OF THE TYPE ASSOCIATED WITH THE MUNICH TOWN GUARD
CIRCA 1600
With tapering double-edged blade, iron hilt of flattened round bars retaining much original blued finish, and original wire-bound grip
33 3/4 in. (84.5 cm.) blade
The blade struck on each side of the ricasso with the crowned 'ST' maker's mark of Wolfgang Stantler, and on one side with a crown and the initials 'HZ'
