It is decorated with magpies amongst flowering branches of prunus blossom.

Lot Essay

Magpies and prunus form the rebus Xishang meishao that may be translated as "happiness up to your eyebrows".
Magpies are auspicious birds and when a group of twelve birds are portrayed together, this augurs twelve wishes for the viewer.
A possible mirror image of this vase sold at Sotheby's, Paris, 13 June 2012, lot 65.
