CASE: the arched hood with pierced sound frets to centre and side, with three gilt-brass sphere finials, outset fluted columns, iron latch, trunk with arched door, stringing and banding overall, stepped plinth raised on bracket feet; DIAL: the 12 inch brass dial with pierced foliate spandrels, silvered chapter ring signed 'John Ellicott/London', matted centre with date aperture and subsidiary seconds ring, steel hands, 'strike silent' to the arch; MOVEMENT: the five pillar movement with recoil anchor escapement and rack strike on bell, brass rod pendulum with bob and rating nut, brass cased weights
