A young gentleman, possibly Mr Wombwell, in blue coat with gold buttons
On ivory
Oval, 76 mm. high, gilt-metal frame with split-pearl surround, the reverse centred with gold initials GW on translucent blue glass on foiled ground and plaited hair surround
Provenance
Sotheby’s, London, 9 November 1944, lot 122 (£95 to Papier. A footnote to the catalogue entry reads ‘The initials are those of a member of the Wombwell family’).
