A LARGE GILT-SPLASHED BRONZE PHOENIX-TAIL VASE
QING DYNASTY, 17TH-18TH CENTURY
The vase is decorated around the shoulder with a band of lappets in low relief below two raised bands and a pair of openwork highly detailed dragon handles at the trumpet neck, above the tapering foot encircled by eight bosses with whorl motifs, and a two-character apocryphal Xuande mark on the base. The surface has a deep golden brown patina with irregular gilt splashes.
