The bodhisattva is shown seated in rajalilasana, the 'posture of royal ease', with the right arm extended to the side and resting on the bent right knee, while the left hand is laid flat beside the left hip to bear the weight of the figure. The left foot is resting on a small lotus support. The figure is wearing long flowing robes draped over the shoulders and tied at the waist below a necklace. The face has a serene expression all the hair tied in a topknot.

The personal collection of Avery Brundage (1887-1975), San Francisco.
Victor Merlo, whose collection of Classical art was housed at the Los Angeles County Museum.
Sold between July - October 1954 to a North American private collector, in whose collection this figure has remained until early 2014.
