Lot Essay

The carving of the details, especially with regards to the the beaded and banded pattern of the vine in the first relief as well as the river god's hair in the second relief, is particularly refined. For a similar example of garland-bearers that displays a similar composition and rendering of the amorinis' physique, see W.
