A PAIR OF BLUE AND WHITE IRON-RED-GROUND 'PALACE' BOWLS
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
Each bowl has deep, rounded sides and is decorated on the exterior with five camellia blossoms borne on a leafy undulating stem, and on the interior with a central medallion of a stylized camellia spray, all in blue and white against an iron-red ground of deep color below the white rim. An apocryphal Xuande mark is on the base of each.
7 ¼ in. (18.5 cm.) diam.
