Each plate with cusped edge, the centre marked with a crown, probably the Khedivial crown of Egypt, above the Roman letter 'H', the cusped rim engraved with acanthus scrolls around rope-pattern cartouches between cross-hatched waisted panels
9in. (23cm.) and 7 ¼in. (18.4cm.) diam.

Provenance
The previous owner's grandfather is thought to have brought this service back from Constantinople after the sacking of the Sultan's Palace and the subsequent auction of its contents circa 1920.
