OTTOMAN TURKEY, LATE 19TH CENTURY
On circular scalloped base rising to a ringed bell shaped foot, with slightly flaring body, with gently sloping shoulders and straight neck, the bole-red, blue, yellow, turquoise-blue, green and aubergine painted decoration organised in horizontal registers, the foot with repeating stylised floral designs, a strap of interlocking palmettes above and of foliated vines below, the body with a central band of interlaced scrolling vines forming heart-shaped patterns, a calligraphic register in loose nasta'liq script above and below, the shoulder with a garland of hanging palmettes and flowerheads, on white ground
