Title printed in blue with hand-coloured lithographic vignette, dedication to Queen Victoria printed in blue, 25 chromolithographic plates finished by hand, mounted and outlined in gold. (Title and dedication dampstained at top margin, tiny marginal hole to one text leaf, some light spotting confined to plate mounts, a couple of plates more heavily affected). Text in original red cloth-backed yellow-cream glazed wrappers (dampstain at top margin, rear wrapper lightly creased and with short tear, gutta percha perished), the whole contained in publisher's half morocco portfolio (rubbed, with some patches of heavier wear to upper cover, one flap torn).

FIRST EDITION of this 'early example of three-colour printing. The figures and smaller details are hand-finished, probably by the artist, this being one of the few "Royal Copies"' (Abbey). Abbey Scenery 360; Tooley 339.
