A RARE PAIR OF GERMAN FLINTLOCK OVER AND UNDER RIFLED TRAVELLING PISTOLS

Each with blued octagonal barrels with shallow scratch rifling, the upper barrel sighted, signed 'I A KUCHENREITER(sic)' and with gold lined maker's stamp (Der Neue Støckel 624), the lower barrel signed 'AN REGENSPURG(sic)', tang incorporating the rear sight and respectively numbered '1' and '2', locks retaining some blued finish and each with safety-catch, figured walnut full stock carved in high relief with foliage behind the barrel tang, plain gilt-brass mounts, dark horn fore-end caps (one incomplete) and wooden ramrods, probably original, the barrels each retaining some original blued finish
