4° (335 x 277mm). Printed subscribers' list, hand-coloured engraved map and 24 hand-coloured aquatint plates after Augustus Pugin and John Gendall, coloured aquatint title vignette and tail-piece. (Light offsetting from text onto plates, text lightly and evenly browned with some offsetting.) Contemporary green cloth, gilt edges (restored); slipcase. Provenance: Charles A. Wightman, Evanston Illinois (bookplate) -- purchased at Wehye, New York, 1 March 1943.
FIRST EDITION of this attractive Ackermann publication. Pre-publication watermarks 1802 -1811. Sold with part I only of the same work, containing 4 hand-coloured aquatint plates after J. Gendall, bound in original printed wrappers with quarter morocco case. Abbey Travel 90; Tooley 445.
