Lot Essay

Stylistically these plates are close to those attributed to both Bartolomeo Terchi and Ferdinando Maria Campani of Sienna. See Elena Pelizzoni and Giovanna Zanchi, La Maiolica dei Terchi, Florence, 1982, p. 73, no. 59 for a plate decorated with a similar scene of figures picnicking attributed to Campani.
