NOTE:
This calligraphy was dedicated to Wang Han (1588-1643), a native of Shandong. In 1637, Wang Han passed the Imperial scholar examination and became an official, first in Gaoping provenance and then in Henei. Known for his boldness and fondness for talented people, Wang helped the artist greatly at court. This work, probably executed between 1637 and 1643, is a testament to Wang Duo’s gratitude towards his mentor.
