Previously in the collection of Da Feng Tang (Zhang Daqian, 1899-1983) and Xiang Molin (Xiang Yuanbian, 1525-1590).

NOTE:
Classic and elegant, Bamboo was formerly in the collection of Dafeng Tang, studio name of Zhang Daqian. Proficient in copying works by the great masters of the Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties, Zhang, probably with reference to this painting, executed his own version of Bamboo in 1947 (sold in this saleroom on 29 May 2005, Lot 638, Fine Modern and Contemporary Chinese Paintings, see reference image on p.43) which mirrors the form and techniques of this work.
