Of bombé form, painted with harbourside scenes of European and Eastern merchants, turretted buildings and sailing ships within quatrefoil gilt-scroll cartouches with Böttger-lustre panels, each end with a purple bracket and a vignette of figures in landscape, the interior of the cover with a quatrefoil harbourside scene reserved against the richly-gilt ground (restored chip to upper rim of box and rim of cover, wear to gilding)

An XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) test was carried out by The Centre for Archaeological and Forensic Analysis at Cranfield University, confirming that the enamels on this object are consistent with the published data for enamels on other Meissen porcelain dating from the first half of the 18th century.
