The first with 32 ¾ in. (83.2 cm.) blade, iron stirrup hilt with langets, leather-covered grip, and steel scabbard with two rings for suspension; the second with leather-covered wooden body with large leather flap painted '14th L.D.', and white leather shoulder-strap, approx. 9 ¼ in. (23.5 cm.) wide
Lot Essay
The 14th Light Dragoons served extensively in the Peninsular War including Talavera and Salamanca. They won the battle honour Douro in 1808.
