Lot Essay

According to the archives of Vacheron Constantin the present watch was manufactured in 1950.

The present timepiece is an impressive and unusual example of Vacheron Constantin production from the mid-20th century. An obvious study in avant-garde design, it is characterized by the guilloche “tapisserie” dial and the prominent sculpted lugs. Furthermore, the case plays on the juxtaposition of polished and satin surfaces (between the lugs and the band, but also on the case back), adding even more movement and flair to the timepiece. For the delight of scholars and collectors alike, the present watch is preserved in astounding condition, thus allowing the beholder to fully admire and appreciate its elaborate case design.
