MANUSCRIPT ON PAPER. 86 leaves in manuscript in black and red inks, 11 lines per page, writing area approximately 120 x 70 mm within gold frame with black and red hairlines, sectional headings in burnished gold, blue, orange, white and pink inks accompanied with marginal floral designs, scattered marginal notations in red and black inks. 2 miniatures, depicting Mecca and Medina. Contemporary brown morocco with gilt stamped arabesque design on covers, back cover extended with gilt-stamped flap heightened with red ink.
Muhammad al-Jazuli was a Moroccan Sufi leader of the Berber tribe of the Jazulah, and compiler of the Dala'il al-Khayrat, a popular Muslim prayer book. The Dala’il al-Khayrat is the first major book in Islamic history which compiled litanies of peace and blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad. It is also the most popular and most universally acclaimed collection of litanies asking God to bless him.
