A YELLOW-GROUND SILK EMBROIDERED 'DRAGON' ALTAR FRONTAL
LATE 19TH CENTURY
The frontal is decorated with a gilt front-facing five-clawed dragon surrounded by four striding dragons amongst cloud scrolls above foaming waves with Buddhist symbols. The upper frieze is decorated with further dragons.
33 x 56 ¾ in. (84 x 144 cm.)
Provenance
Acquired by the vendor's grandfather in the early 1900s.
