A PAINTED WOOD FIGURE OF A BODHISATTVA
SONG-YUAN DYNASTY (960-1368)
The graceful bodhisattva stands on a lotus throne with his hips swayed slightly to the left, and wears a shawl, a necklace, a scarf tied across his torso and a long flowing dhoti. His hair is tied in a topknot behind the foliate crown that is carved with a small figure of Buddha. There are traces of gilt and black pigment visible.
