A POLYCHROME-DECORATED WOOD FIGURE OF A SEATED GUANYIN
YUAN DYNASTY (1260-1368)
The Buddhist deity is carved seated in dhyanasana on a lotus base, she has a full face and downcast eyes and her hair is upswept in a top knot beneath a crown, she wears a necklace over loosely draped robes that fall in folds over the edge of the lotus base. There are traces of red, green, black and blue pigment.
