In 2015 Patek Philippe presented The Watch Art Grand Exhibition at London to offer the public and it’s collector a rare insider’s perspective of the Maison’s art of watchmaking. At the exhibition Patek Philippe also displayed a complete collection of their timepieces, which includes watches with complication that range from time only to perpetual calendar, minute repeating and tourbillon. However the most noticeable watch that is presented at the exhibition was nothing less than the piece which Patek Philippe unveiled in 2014 to commemorate their 175th year anniversary the reference 5175 Grand Master Chime.
To celebrate the exhibition, Patek Philippe made several reference available for purchase by their most important clients. The present lot is London 2015 Special Edition of reference 5153G, with hinged dust cover engraved “PATEK PHILIPPE LONDON 2015” in a limited run of 80 pieces.
Christie's is honoured to offer the very first and so far only known example of reference 5153G-012 has ever been offered at auction until today. Furthermore, the present watch is still factory sealed and therefore has never been worn, nor taken out of its original packaging.
