First edition, a collection of illustrations of the finest residences in and around Rome, a fundamental work of the empire style.
Folio (378 x 272 mm), 100 engraved plates on 99 sheets, plate 5 duplicated, engraved title vignette, another vignette and a cul-de-lampe (a few plates with minor paper flaws or repairs, some minor marginal dampstaining at end). 19th-century half morocco (spine label renewed). Provenance: Thiery (early owner’s name on title); Bibliothek von Herrmann (armorial ink stamp on title); Matthias Hetherington (bookseller’s label). Berlin Kat. 2733.
