With reblacked chopperlump Whitworth steel barrels signed in full and numbered '2' on the rib, action engraved 'PURDEY'S PATENT' on the underside, removable striker-discs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE', signed locks each with cocking-indicator, blued toplever and trigger-guard, fine bouquet and scroll engraving throughout, the action and locks each retaining some original case-hardened finish, well figured 14 ¼ in. replacement stock, and silver escutcheon engraved with the initials 'A.D.D.', in maker's leather motor case for gun number 27479
29 in. (73.7 cm.) nitro barrels, 2 ½ in. chambers, bored approx. cyl. and ½ choke.

The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun appears in the Barrel Book with an entry dated 31 March 1892 noting the buyer's name as Newall Esq.
