A can of malted milk specially packaged for Amundsen’s airship expedition on the Norge. Horlick’s was a major sponsor of the expedition, which saw Amundsen and Ellsworth successfully fly from Svalbard to Alaska on an airship designed by Umberto Nobile. The company sponsored several polar expeditions over the years, and a mountain range in Antarctica was named after them by explorer Richard E. Byrd.

Unopened tin can (117 x 85mm). Original printed paper wrapper (some chipping). Provenance: Family of Roald Amundsen (sold at Bonhams, 4 December 2012, lot 83).
