The first British edition—a bright, partially unopened copy. Amundsen and his team were the first to traverse the Northwest passage in a single ship: the Gjøa, now on display by the Fram museum in Oslo. Arctic Bib. 402.

Two volumes, octavo (236 x 162 mm). Frontispieces, 2 color folding maps in rear pockets, in-text illustrations throughout, partially unopened. Publisher’s original green decorated cloth, top edge gilt. Provenance: John C. Weaver (1915-1995, a noted American geographer who served as an Arctic intelligence officer in the Navy; bookplate), – High Latitude, Bainbridge Island.
