Lot Essay

A panel with Mamluk tiles decorated with ferns is in the Victoria and Albert Museum and attributed to Damascus, circa 1420-50 (inv.no.422-1898). With its very finely drawn decoration, the tile with the three-branch fern relates to lot 16 and lot 19 in this sale.
