Lot Essay

This album leaf is composed of pieces from a fine Timurid book of safina format. For a comparable manuscript with similar typical stippled stencil borders incorporating animals see Catalogue of Persian Manuscripts in the Chester Beatty Library, 1960, pl.8. Two folios from the same album were sold at Christie's London, 14 October 1997, lot 135 and more recently 10 April 2014, lot 58.
