A GILT-BRONZE MOUNTED ZITAN EWER, DUOMUHU
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The ewer is carved with a cylindrical body separated into three sections by gilt-bronze bands decorated with flower and archaistic scrolls. The upper section is crafted in the shape of a monk's cap, and is set with an s-shaped spout with a mythical beast-head terminal. The body is carved in low relief with confronting archaistic dragon scrolls on a geometric patterned ground. The reverse is affixed with two loops in the form of flower heads. The domed cover is similarly decorated and is surmounted by an agate lingzhi finial.
