AN IRON-RED-DECORATED BLUE AND WHITE 'DRAGON' DISH
QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The interior is painted with an iron-red five-clawed dragon leaping against a background of blue waves, with a similar design repeated with nine dragons to the exterior.
6 7/8 in. (17.5 cm.) diam.
Provenance
Private English collection, acquired by a Protestant missionary in Beijing in the 19th century, then by descent within the family.
