A RARE BLUE AND WHITE JUE AND STAND
QIANLONG FOUR-CHARACTER SEAL MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The exterior of the libation cup, jue, is painted in vibrant shades of cobalt blue to depict cranes in flight amidst scrolling clouds, supported on three feet which are decorated with floral scrolls. The stand is similarly decorated with cranes and clouds surrounding crashing clouds. The cup and stand both bear the imperial seal mark.

Private English collection, acquired by a Protestant missionary in Beijing in the 19th century, then by descent within the family.

Lot Essay

Compare the present lot to a very similar Qianlong blue and white jue and stand in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, museum no. C.95-1913. Another example was sold at Christie's London, 5 November 2013, lot 477.
