The circular top inlaid with various coloured hardstones against a porphyry-veneered ground, centred by Romulus and Remus suckling the She wolf, with a laurel wreath border divided by vexillum and encircled by portrait medallions of Roman emperors joined by ribboned lapis lazuli, the edge of yellow marble, the central upright on a cruciform base with four seated ormolu swans
