The Dunn-Broxbourne copy of the second edition of Aquinas’s commentary, in a contemporary monastic binding. The first book of Peter Lombard’s Sentences addresses the mystery of the Trinity. HC 1474*; BMC V 294, XII 20; BSB-Ink T-256; Bod-inc T-152; IGI 7649; Goff T-161; ISTC it00161000.
Super-chancery folio (320 x 211mm). 150 leaves. Red Lombard initials, capital strokes, and paragraph marks (some light dustsoiling at ends, a few wormholes). Contemporary Liesborn blindstamped calf over wooden boards [EBDB w000151, Liesborn Benediktinerkloster], brass clasps, vellum pastedowns (joints showing, losses and wear to spine, some staining and general wear). Provenance: Liesborn, Benedictine monastery of SS. Cosmas and Damian and S. Simeon (contemporary inscription) – George Dunn (1865-1912, English bibliophile and palaeographer; armorial bookplate) – Albert Ehrman (1890-1969, diamond merchant; Broxbourne bookplate and AE monogram stamp on rear pastedown).
