RARE EARLY MAYAN ZOOMORPHIC VESSEL, KAMINALJUYÚ REGION

Depicting a crouching stylized howler monkey, with large, incised hands flanking its belly, pronounced spinal column, the face distinguished by the tubular mouth, open as if emitting a cry, heavy-hooded upper lids, the crested head incised with a floral-star motif further adorned with a dentate incised collar and painted overall in a polished black slip.

Récipient orné d’un singe hurleur stylisé accroupi avec de grandes mains incisées posées sur son ventre, une colonne vertébrale prononcée, un visage souligné par des paupières supérieures aux parois lourdes, à la bouche tubulaire enfoncée et ouverte comme pour pousser un cri, et à la tête avec une crête incisée d’un motif floral étoilé et parée d’un collier dentelé incisé.
