A mid Victorian Scottish hot water jug or claret jug
of part-fluted vase shape and on a plain domed circular base, with a chased and applied foliate rim, leaf-capped scroll handle and domed hinged cover with compressed finial, the body chased with a broad frieze of classical figures on horseback and with a chariot drawn by two horses on a matted ground, a narrow egg and dart frieze and a scrolling foliate frieze above, the neck chased with laurel leaf, berry and bow swags, Marshall & Sons, Edinburgh 1859 - 12¼in.
