MOREY SAINT DENIS MONTS LUISANTS BLANC
Monts Luisants is a climat at the top of the Morey-Saint-Denis slope covering 11.32 ha, between 320 and 350 m above sea level. It consists of 3 plots:
Village on 2.19 ha (the highest part), Premier Cru on 5.39 ha (in the middle part) and La Roche Grand Cru on 3.74 ha.
The Clos des Monts Luisants is located at the top of the Premier Cru part of the vineyard. A monopole belonging to Domaine Ponsot, only a portion of 0.98 ha is planted with Aligoté; the other, the Cuvée des Alouettes is planted with Pinot Noir. The main part of white grape vines were planted in 1911 with another 20% planted in 1930, making these extraordinarily old vines.

Tasting note on the 1961: Made from all Aligoté. Fairly reserved nose. With air the wine opened up. Smokey over pure peachy fruits and floral notes. Mineral. Mouth filling, great acidity and balance, the equilibria important, this has such beautiful finesse. So much energy and length. Beautiful texture. So well balanced. Wow. This is a testimony that Aligoté can age beautifully well in the right hands and from the right terroir. Tasted during the jubilee tasting at the Domaine in June 2022. Edwin Vos
Tasting note on the 1969: Made from all Aligoté. Interesting nose of kumquat aromas, all in a calm fine presentation. On the palate the texture is broader and more complex showing the ripening of fruits better. Well balanced and fine. Very good. Strong wine. The finish is long. Plenty of energy and reserve. Impressive. Tasted during the jubilee tasting at the Domaine in June 2022. Edwin Vos
