A Campanian Calene ware black glazed pottery guttus
the body with vertical ribs and a moulded central tondo with a Nereid riding a sea-horse and carrying a shield, tall side spout with everted lip and single ring handle -- 3½in. (8.8cm.) high, early 3rd Century B.C.; and another, similar, the central tondo with the bearded head of Silenus in relief -- 3 7/8in. (9.9cm.) high, 4th Century B.C.
