Lot Essay

Preserved here is one complete side and two other fragmentary ones from a four-sided Hathor-head column. She is shown with her typical bovine ears, wearing a voluminous smooth wig and a beaded necklace. The type was employed throughout Egypt, with Dendera the main center of her cult. For a related example now in Hildesheim see no. 6 in R.S. Bianchi, et al., Cleopatra’s Egypt, Age of the Ptolemies.
