This work contains 15 full-page collotype prints after drawings characterized by their erotic and explicit nature, showcasing Klimt's fascination with sensuality and the female form. ‘Their graphic depiction of female masturbation, in particular, would be held downright outrageous by many viewers of his times – even though it is likely that as many would secretly experience a forbidden sense of titillation from their perusal’ (Cavallaro, Gustav Klimt: A Critical Reappraisal, 2018).
Large quarto (360 x 287mm). Text printed in black and gold, 15 full-page collotype plates after drawings by Klimt. Original grey patterned cloth, titles to upper cover in gilt (some light wear, hinges cracked but holding).
