An exceptionally rare late 19th-Century lacquered-brass R & J BECK compound binocular "International" model microscope,
with rack and pinion coarse focusing and micrometer fine adjustment, prism, swinging sub-stage with rack adjustment, engraved circle, engraved fine adjustment quadrants, mounted with the mechanical circular stage arranged so as to rotate and revolve, with chamfered engraved circle, bone ivory adjusting levers, the sub-stage condenser mounted with iris diaphragm and clamp screws for other accessories and fine adjustment, with four eyepieces, plano-concave mirror arranged on a sliding socket, the body limb mounted on twin tapering pillars with chamfered scale and tripod stand engraved R & J Beck London, with photocopy of the R & J Beck 1894 catalogue entry, in mahogany carrying case with swinging handle -- 19¾in. (50.1cm.) high
