Further details
"I have sketched running salmon and tumbling water a number of time, and I encounter grey wagtails frequently and paint them often. In this painting I wanted to convey the on-going effort and power of the salmon running against the surging flow of water with a brief moment of a wagtail pausing to preen."
The artist studied art at Great Yarmouth College of Art, and later at the Leicester Polytechnic obtaining a BA in Fine Art in 1973. In 1991 his book on Bird Migration was published by Harper Collins. He was recently elected President of the Society of Wildlife Artists in 1994.
