"In springtime 1988 I saw my first Hoopoe in a small olive grove of Cyprus. Watching a flying Hoopoe is an incomparable experience. The contrasts of the plumage are a very effective eye-catcher. When i painted "Bird Contrasts" I was only interested in the reciprocal action of the abstract colour patterns from black, white and yellowish brown. Contrasts are an endless theme of communication in nature. During painting in an abstracting manner I turned the painting by ninety degrees. It shall suggest the viewer to see the bird species new."
